Privacy Policy

Ballstar helps leagues operate games, publish schedules and stats, manage teams and players, stream game media, coordinate sponsors and support ticket or registration workflows. This policy explains how we handle information connected to those services.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created while leagues and teams use Ballstar, and limited technical information needed to keep the service running.

  • Account information: name, email address, password credentials handled through our authentication system, email verification and password reset information, and editable profile details such as date of birth, gender and skills or position.
  • League, team and player information: league names, descriptions, locations, courts, divisions, schedules, rosters, invitations, permissions, team names, player names, jersey numbers, positions, height, weight, hometown, social handles, photos and related basketball profile details.
  • Game information: matchups, dates, courts, local time zones, scores, box scores, standings, player statistics, shot tracking, play-by-play actions, game flow, stream metadata, ad placements and other game operations data.
  • Media and uploads: league, team, player and sponsor images uploaded through Ballstar. Image uploads are stored through Cloudinary. GameStream playback may use stream providers such as Mux.
  • Ticket, registration and sponsor information: ticket request names, emails, quantities, ticket type, notes, team registration details, sponsor names, sponsor links, placement prices and sponsor creative images. Ballstar does not collect payment card numbers in the Next.js app.
  • Technical information: session cookies, request logs, browser and device information, IP address, error data and similar information needed for security, debugging and service operation.

How We Use Information

  • Provide, secure and improve Ballstar accounts, dashboards and league management tools.
  • Publish public league, team, player and game pages, including schedules, standings, stats and media.
  • Support GameStream, box scores, play-by-play, game flow, sponsorship placements and ticket requests.
  • Help league administrators manage rosters, courts, divisions, invitations, permissions and registrations.
  • Send account, verification, password reset, service and operational communications.
  • Detect errors, protect against misuse and maintain the integrity of the service.

Public Information

Ballstar is built around public sports pages. League names, team names, rosters, player names, player profile details, photos, schedules, scores, stats, play-by-play, GameStream media, sponsor placements and similar basketball content may be visible to the public when a league or team publishes or manages that information through Ballstar.

Private management fields, such as account credentials, invitation emails, ticket request emails and management-only roster data, are not intended to be displayed publicly, but league administrators may have access where needed to operate their league.

Cookies and Authentication

Ballstar uses necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to read your session on server-rendered pages. Session tokens are stored in httpOnly cookies and are used between your browser, the Ballstar application and the Ballstar API. You can clear cookies through your browser, but some account features will stop working until you sign in again.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed to operate Ballstar, including:

  • With league administrators and team managers who need access to operate leagues, teams, rosters and games.
  • With public viewers when information is published on public Ballstar pages.
  • With service providers that support hosting, APIs, image storage, streaming, email, security and analytics.
  • With payment, registration or ticketing providers if those workflows are enabled outside the app.
  • When required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer.

Children and Player Media

Ballstar is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create accounts. Basketball leagues may include minors. If you submit roster information, photos, videos or other media for a minor, you represent that you have the authority and any consent required from the player, parent or guardian.

Parents, guardians or players who want player information or media reviewed, corrected or removed should contact the applicable league administrator or the Ballstar team.

Retention and Your Choices

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Ballstar, maintain league history, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. Game records, scores and statistics may remain available as part of a league's historical record unless removed by an authorized administrator or by Ballstar.

  • You can update account profile details from your profile page.
  • League and team administrators can update league, team, roster, schedule and media information.
  • You can request correction, deletion or removal of personal information by contacting your league administrator or Ballstar.
  • You can log out or clear browser cookies to end an active session on a device.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, including server-side API access, httpOnly session cookies and upload limits. No online service can guarantee perfect security, and you are responsible for protecting your account credentials.

Changes and Contact

We may update this policy as Ballstar changes. The updated date above shows when this policy was last revised. For privacy questions, data requests or removal requests, contact your league administrator or the Ballstar team.
